At Rulethirteen we provide food safety consulting services, training, food safety culture advice, and we specialise in food safety audits.

Rulethirteen is predominantly a food safety consulting business, though we do also undertake work in the non-food space. We work with large and small companies, including some of Australia’s largest national retailers to develop policies and processes to meet legislation, quality or responsible sourcing programs.

We also undertake audits that are usually at the more specialised end – such as targeted or ‘trouble-shooting’ style audits, often used to confirm or get to the bottom of issues.
Rulethirteen also has embedded staff within some of Australia’s largest food and grocery, developing documentation and resources to assist the retailers in controlling food safety, quality and responsible sourcing initiatives.

We work with manufacturers and suppliers on how to meet the retailer and legislated requirements, and this work can range from in factory audits, process controls to recipe formulations, product testing and label compliance reviews.

Our audit services are the cornerstone of our food safety compliance and improvement work. Audits help to confirm what is working well, what is not working well and needs attention, and the opportunities for improving the food safety operations of your business.

Internal Audits

Internal audits help confirm that the operations within your business are working as planned. Often compliance needs to be demonstrated against a third party or customer standard, and requires resources and expertise to conduct effective audits. Supplier Management Audits

Supplier audits help confirm that the operations of your suppliers are in place as agreed, and that you fully understand the levels of risk or compliance your suppliers pose.

Food Product Verification Audits

Product Verification audits help confirm that products are being produced to the product specification, including the use of the correct quantities, types and brands of raw materials, and that finished product labelling is correct. Product Verification Audits are particularly useful to conduct on a regular basis, to ensure ingredients have not changed, that Country of Origin Statements are still correct, and that recipe formulations, characterising ingredients, ingredient lists and Nutrition Information panels remain correct.
